Protein import in choloroplast

Plant Physiology

The Chloroplast is the site of photosynthesis in plants. Most of the chloroplast proteins must be imported from the cytosol. In the plant physiology laboratory I am interested in the understanding of the import mechanism and especially the role of one components of the chloroplast protein import machinery the TOC159 protein. Combining genetics, in silico analysis, synthetic biology and orthologous system (tobacco, pea, moss) I am trying to decipher the regulation of TOC159 function.
