  1. What is a structured PhD Program?

    In a structured PhD program you will follow a specialized curriculum. The scope of many structured programs is on transferable skills that a PhD student should master during the PhD studies. Structured programs offer qualification frameworks that guide you through the process of skill acquirement. They are finished with a PhD program certification. 

  2. Can I also finish my general doctorate? 

    Yes, of course. In both, structured programs or general doctorate you will need to fulfill course work of 12 CP. However, in the general doctorate, you will not have access to an organized curriculum, course offer or qualification framework.

  3. How can I enroll to a structured PhD program?

    Every structured program has its own requirements. Please check the PhD program guidelines to understand the registration and acceptance process. In general, admission to the structured PhD programs is only possible if you are accepted as PhD student at a Swiss University.

  4. How can I access the courses of other universities than my home university?

    SPSW PhD students are welcome in all the PhD programs that are offered within the SPSW if places are available. Registered PhD students in a PhD program have priority. Please check the SPSW Evento registration tool for course fees and regulations about course admission for SPSW students that are not member in a specific PhD program.

  5. How do I get courses accredited that I visited in other structured PhD program than I have registered?

    All courses offered in the SPSW PhD programs are gaining ECTS/CP. 1 ECTS is equal to 30 hours work (including preparatory time, homework), ECTS are accredited in all structured PhD programs (national/international).
