Welcome to the Swiss Plant Science Web!

It is our pleasure to welcome you on our homepage! With this first edition of our newsletter, we would like to guide you through the Swiss Plant Science Web, and to introduce you to its staff and its services.

It is our aim to improve visibility of plant sciences in Switzerland, thus first of all, many thanks for your interest in our network!

The Swiss Plant Science Web (SPSW) is the umbrella organization for research and education in academic plant science in Switzerland. The SPSW umbrella comprises seven universities and ETH Zurich, each of them associated to a respective regional network:

In just a very short period of time, the Swiss Plant Science Web has grown from an idea drafted on half an A4 page into an impressive structure, dedicated to research, funding support, teaching, and various other services for the SPSW members. But let the founder tell the whole story: Here is the address of the president of the SPSW, Prof. Thomas Boller from the University of Basel.

By the way, our members are all the plant scientists at Swiss universities and ETH Zurich: Senior scientists, Bachelor students, postdoctoral fellows, or students at the Master and PhD level. The person in charge for member support and coordination of our services, is Dr. Luca Wacker. He draws a very positive conclusion about the development of the SPSW, see our coordinator's article

Please feel free to discover our network - we are looking forward to meeting you!

Sincerely yours

The SPSW staff
